Anastasia Golenishcheva is among one of the leading cello performers and educators in New York City. Anastasia Golenishcheva was born in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, where she began her cello studies at the age of 7. Her previous engagements include collaborations with the New Yorker Trio, World Youth Orchestra in New York, and the House of Music in St. Petersburg.
Anastasia took attention in the New York music world after her performance at the Avery Fischer Hall, a concert presented by an Oscar winning actor, Kevin Spacey. In New York she showed her diversity as a musician by playing and recording in different genres such as, rock and jazz, where she appeared on stages of the Dream Theater and Blue Note.
Anastasia began her professional career in 2007, a year when she was selected to study at the Petrozavodsk Glazunov Music Academy, which earned her both, bachelor’s and master’s degrees. That same year, she joined the Karelian Philharmonic State Orchestra, where she honed her skills under the mentorship of distinguished soloists and conductors while gaining extensive experience as an orchestral musician.
In 2009, Anastasia conducted in-depth research in chamber music at the University of Applied Sciences in Joensuu, Finland. Her talents as a soloist earned her a position with the prestigious Saint Petersburg House of Music, giving her an opportunity to perform the famous Elgar’s Cello Concerto with the Academic Symphony Orchestra in 2010.
After moving to the United States in 2012, Anastasia continued her vibrant performing career, appearing with various orchestras and chamber ensembles in renowned venues. Alongside her solo and chamber music career, she has earned numerous awards and scholarships in international music competitions.
With a rich background in orchestral, chamber, and solo work, Anastasia transitioned into teaching, driven by a passion to share her knowledge. In 2013, she began teaching cello at the Long Island Music Conservatory, and in 2020, she joined the Long Island Tutoring Academy. In addition, Anastasia also maintains a large private studio, where she continues to mentor young musicians. Under her guidance, all her students have achieved top scores in the NYSSMA exams.
While Anastasia remains active as a performer, her primary focus and passion are now dedicated to education, where she continues to inspire the next generation of musicians.
