James Paul Nadien

​James Paul Nadien is a percussionist, improviser, composer, educator, and organizer based in Brooklyn, NY. Known for an extreme level versatility within the New York jazz and improvised music scenes, he is the founder of JPN Records, where his free jazz/noise rock outfit Toadal.

Package can be heard, along with several other releases. His band TYPO! features complex original compositions by Nadien for drums, piano, violin, and cello. He can be seen playing fully improvised music with such musicians including Ravi Coltrane, William Parker, Tony Malaby, Sandy Ewen; while also working in music with deep levels of composed complexity with Jon Elbaz, Yuhan Su, and the legendary cult “brutal prog” rock band, The Flying Luttenbachers.
